Product Titles & Descriptions That Actually Rank on Google Shopping

Most Shopify stores reuse the same product title everywhere — page, SEO tag, and Shopping feed. That’s a missed opportunity, because the feed title is doing a completely different job: it has to match how people search, not how your theme displays the product.
Winning advertisers rewrite their feed titles
When Store Growers analysed 151 product titles from 120 advertisers ranking on competitive Shopping queries, the pattern was clear — the best titles deliberately diverge from the website title:
The anatomy of a title that ranks
Front-load what people actually type. A strong structure is Brand + Product + key attributes (size, color, material, model) — kept under about 70 characters so it isn’t truncated:
- Good: “Bosch 18V Cordless Drill Driver Kit — 2 Batteries, Brushless”
- Weak: “Drill Driver Kit (Best Seller)”
Descriptions: write for the distracted shopper
Shoppers skim, and increasingly they buy while doing something else — 69% make purchases while multitasking. Lead with the benefit, list specs scannably, and make sure the description matches reality everywhere. The downside of getting it wrong is concrete: 71% have returned a product because the listing was inaccurate, and 54% abandon when product info is inconsistent across pages.
